The Alliance was established in response to the Murru waaruu Seminar Series facilitated by the Australian National University First Nations Portfolio throughout 2023. That process highlighted historical failures, ongoing barriers, and key opportunities for Indigenous Australians to more equitably contribute to and share in the benefits of a stronger, more sustainable Australian economy. It called for a comprehensive Indigenous economic policy framework to support First Nations as genuine partners in the Australian economy.
